New standards and new regulations, emulsion cationic polyacrylamide testing requirements are revealed

Author:

Cationic polyacrylamide is an important one of the four major ionization properties of polyacrylamide (other types are non-ionic, anionic and zwitterionic). Cationic polyacrylamide has good water solubility and high flocculation ability because of the high density positive charge on the macromolecular chain, so it has a wide range of applications in industrial sewage treatment, wastewater treatment, sludge decarburization water treatment. Ionic and anionic polyacrylamide has also been known as a water treatment agent for a long time. However, with the development of new technology of emulsion cationic polyacrylamide, as a water treatment agent, it is easy to stir, easy to dissipate, less dosage, convenient operation, and has begun to be valued.

Emulsion cationic polyacrylamide as a water treatment agent product, although it has been for many years, but the relevant standards have not been introduced and the non-ionic, anionic polyacryloyl standard GB/T 17514-2017 was released as early as 17 years. Finally, after integrating multiple resources and examining multiple suggestions, the state issued HG/T 19 "Water Treatment Agent Emulsion Type Cationic Polyacrylamide" in 2019, and stipulated that it will be officially implemented on July 1, 2020.

Emulsion cationic polyacrylamide testing project requirements

Appearance inspection requirements: translucent or milky liquid

Mass fraction testing requirements for polymer content: ≥30%

Characteristic viscosity detection requirements: ≥3.0dL/g

Relative molecular weight testing requirements: ≥ 10x10 to get 5th power M

Mass fraction testing requirements for acrylate amine monomer: ≤0.1%

Cationization detection requirements: 5.0%≤W2≤95.0%

Dissolution time detection requirements: ≤ 30 minutes

Mass fraction testing requirements for water insoluble matter: ≤1.0%

At present, many sewage treatment projects will use the flocculation precipitation method, and through continuous testing and research and development, the emulsion cationic polyacrylate is also applicable to this method. The release of HG/T 5568-2019 plays an important role in standardizing the quality of emulsion cationic polyacryloyl and forming a standardized system for water treatment agent testing. The third-party testing agency of water treatment agent can issue quality inspection reports in turn to provide necessary data support for enterprise procurement, production and process improvement.
