Introduction to the properties of high-viscosity polyacrylamide

1. Product Introduction:

Polyacrylamide (PAM) is a collective name for polymers obtained by homopolymerization or copolymerization of acrylamide monomer under the action of initiator, and is one of the most widely used varieties of water-soluble polymer materials, mainly used in oil exploitation, water treatment, textile, papermaking, mineral processing, medicine, agriculture and other industries, known as "hundred industry auxiliaries".

Polyacrylamide (PAM) soluble in water, almost insoluble in organic solvents, in neutral and alkaline media with the characteristics of high polymer electrolyte, sensitive to salt electrolytes, and high-valence metal ions can be crosslinked into insoluble gels, due to its molecular chain polar group, it can adsorb the suspended solid particles in the sewage, bridge between the particles or condense the particles by neutralizing the charge to form a large floc.

Therefore, it can accelerate the sedimentation of particles in the suspension, and has a very obvious effect of accelerating the clarification of the solution and promoting filtration. Cationic type, anionic type, non-ionic type and other varieties are complete, which can meet the needs of all aspects. Good water solubility, can also be completely dissolved in cold water. Add a small amount of this series of products, you can get a great flocculation effect. Generally, only 0.01-10ppm (0.01-10g/m3) needs to be added to fully function.

This series of products and inorganic flocculants (polyferric sulfate concentrate, polyaluminum chloride, iron salts, etc.) are used at the same time, which can show greater effects.

2. Product characteristics

1) Flocculation of high-viscosity polyacrylamide: PAM can make suspended matter electrically neutralize, bridge adsorption, and flocculation.

2) Adhesion of high-viscosity polyacrylamide: It can play an adhesive role through mechanical, physical and chemical effects.

3) Resistance reduction of high-viscosity polyacrylamide: PAM can effectively reduce the frictional resistance of the fluid, and the addition of a trace amount of PAM to water can reduce the resistance by 50-80%.

4) Thickening of high-viscosity polyacrylamide: PAM has a thickening effect under both neutral and acidic conditions, and thickening will be more obvious when the PH value is above 10 PAM is easily hydrolyzed and has a semi-network structure.

3. Introduction to the principle of PAM:

1) Flocculation principle: When PAM is used for flocculation, it is related to the surface properties of the flocculated species, especially the kinetic potential, viscosity, turbidity and PH value of the suspension, and the kinetic potential of the particle surface is the cause of particle polymerization addition to PAM with opposite surface charge, which can reduce the rapid potential and condense.

2) Adsorption bridge: PAM molecular chains are fixed on different particle surfaces, and a bridge of polymer is formed between each particle, so that the particles form aggregates and settle.

3) Surface adsorption: various adsorption of polar group particles on PAM molecules.

4) Net trapping: The PAM molecular chain and the dispersed phase implicate the dispersed phase through various mechanical, physical, chemical and other effects to form a network, thereby playing the role of net capture.

4. How to use PAM: polyacrylamide is used through various processes of dissolution, addition and mixing, because the variety and type of use and the amount of use are different according to the purpose of treatment.

Therefore, it is necessary to carry out preliminary tests in advance to grasp the most appropriate variety model and its use. The preparation of aqueous solutions of products should be carried out in enamel, galvanized, aluminum or plastic barrels, and cannot be prepared or stored in iron containers.

1) Dissolution method of high viscosity polyacrylamide Before use, dissolve the solid into a concentration of 0.1∽0.5% in order to quickly exert its effectiveness, when dissolved, while stirring the water in the dissolving tank, while paying strict attention to add the solid, so that it is evenly dispersed in the water, do not let it form pimples.

Because strong stirring for a long time will reduce its performance, it is recommended that the mixer dissolve at a speed of about 20~200 revolutions per minute.  Because if the dissolved solution is left for a long time, its performance will gradually decrease depending on the water quality, so please use the aqueous solution within three days after it is prepared.

2) The addition of dissolved solution is usually about 0.1% aqueous solution, but in the case of high concentration and high viscosity of the suspension liquid, it is recommended to further dilute the aqueous solution to about 0.01%, which will be easy to mix and play a full effect.

After adding the flocculant aqueous solution to the suspension, if stirring vigorously for a long time, it will destroy the flocculate that has formed, so please add the prepared aqueous solution before the flocculation treatment.
